Synopsis

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (abbreviated UMK) is an annual music contest organised by the Finnish public broadcaster Yle. UMK began in 2012 as a new concept for the Finnish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, replacing the original Finnish Eurovision Song Contest qualifying event (Suomen euroviisukarsinta) which had been held since 1961.

The competition consisted of six shows that commenced with an introduction show on 27 January 2012 and concluded with a final on 25 February 2012. The six shows were held in Helsinki and hosted by Yle youth radio channel YleX DJs Anne Lainto and Joona Kortesmäki.

The four shows were held at the YLE Studios in Helsinki and hosted by Rakel Liekki and Roope Salminen.

The four shows were held at the YLE Studios in Helsinki and hosted by Finnish actor/singer/rapper Roope Salminen and 2013 Finnish Eurovision entrant Krista Siegfrids.

The show was held at the Mediapolis in Tampere and hosted by Antti Tuisku with commentary in Finnish by Mikko Silvennoinen, in Swedish by Johan Lindroos and Eva Frantz, in Russian by Levan Tvaltvadze and in English by Katri Norrlin and Jani Kareinen.
