Lucio Pascual Gascón, widely known as "Tchê," was a Spanish-born engineer and mechanic who significantly influenced Brazilian motorsports. Emigrating to Brazil in the 1960s, he brought with him expertise in mechanics and a passion for racing. Tchê became a pivotal figure in the karting scene, working with future Formula 1... talents such as Emerson Fittipaldi, Mauricio Gugelmin, Roberto Moreno, and notably, Ayrton Senna. His collaboration with Senna began in the early 1970s, with Tchê serving as Senna's mechanic, engine tuner, and mentor throughout his karting career. Their partnership was instrumental in Senna's development, contributing to numerous victories and titles. Senna once expressed profound gratitude to Tchê, stating, "You’re the one who taught almost all I know, who helped me and who was there for me in every single moment." Tchê's dedication to nurturing young talent and his technical acumen left a lasting impact on Brazilian motorsports. He passed away on April 26, 2015, in São Paulo, Brazil, at the age of 78.
